RE: Recorded Books from Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D)

I have only received copies of four (4) recorded book orders to Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic (RFB&D) for the Spring Semester, 1999. Please encourage consumers to get orders in to RFB&D as soon as possible and to get copies of their orders to me so that I will know to whom to send the books when I receive from RFB&D.

I have recently received seven (7) recorded books that are not "showing up" on any of the copies of book orders that have been sent to me. If any of these books have been ordered by/for your consumer, please let me know.

RE: Institutional Membership with Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)

The Kentucky Department for the Blind (DB) Recording Unit in Paducah and Lexington are separate entities from the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D). If you or a consumer wish to search and obtain recorded books through RFB&D and charge to the DVR RFB&D institutional membership, you or the consumer must do it. It is not the responsibility of the dB Recording Units to provide this service.

When you request services through the DB Recording Units, you will need to authorize according to Service Fee Memorandum MS-95-96-21, Recording Unit Charges, June 17, 1996.

I have just learned with an Institutional Membership in RFB&D, all recorded books are sent to one mailing address. When a book is ordered and charged to the DVR RFB&D Institutional Membership number, the book will then be mailed to my attention at 209 St. Clair Street, Frankfort. RFB&D does not record the name nor address of the person placing the order.

When ordering books and charging to the DVR Institutional Membership, please get a list of the book titles to me with the names and addresses of the consumers to whom I am to mail the recorded books.

RE: Institutional Membership with Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D)

The Agency has purchased an institutional membership with Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic (RFB&D) in Princeton, New Jersey. This twelve (12) month institutional membership went into effect on August 12, 1997. This will eliminate the need for DVR payment of registration fees for individual clients (currently $75.00 initial fee and thereafter $25.00 yearly user fee). Individual certification of clients will still be required and DVR's membership number AG40601005 should be noted on the form. A hard copy of the certification form (2pages) will be sent to each counselor who may duplicate as needed.
