PERSONAL ASSISTANCE SERVICE FEE MOMORANDUM MS-96-97-18
Date: July 25, 1997 Re: Fee Schedule for Personal Assistance Services
Please remove and destroy SERVICE FEE MEMORANDUM MS-96-97-6, Fee Schedule for Personal Assistance Services, February 7, 1997 and replace with this Service Fee Memorandum which becomes effective immediately.
The fee for personal assistance services is now a range from $4.75 to $12.00 per hour. The lower fee is indexed on the federal hourly minimum wage, that wage currently being $4.75. On September 30, 1997, the minimum wage will increase to $5.15 per hour.
The fee is to be reimbursed to the consumer. The consumer will be responsible for deducting applicable taxes and other benefits and then paying the personal care attendant directly. You may reference the Personal Care Attendant Procedures Manual regarding department and payment procedures for personal assistance services.
personal assistance services must be necessary to the achievement of an employment outcome and may be provided only while the consumer is receiving other vocational rehabilitation services.
The estimated cost of personal assistance services should be reported on the DVR-4C. If the estimate for the 1997-98 School Year was calculated at a lower rate, you may now need to adjust the estimate. Please check with the Student Financial Aid Officer (SFAO) to determine if you can make all adjustments on the DVR-4C with a copy to the SFAO or if the DVR-4C needs to be returned to the SFAO for the adjustments to be made.
Questions regarding procedures may be directed to Don Hiatt or Patty Reynolds. Questions regarding the DVR-4C may be directed to Marian Spencer. |
