RE:              Fee Schedule for Hearing Aids and Earmolds

 

The fee schedule for hearing aids has been updated. Effective immediately, the maximum allowable fee for a Behind-the-Ear (BTE) and Full Shell In-the-Ear (ITE) Conventional, Programmable, and/or Digital hearing aid has been increased to $750.00. The maximum allowable fee should include the cost of the hearing aid, any additional circuitry needed, and telecoil. The appropriate dispensing fee and earmold fee may be added to the cost of the hearing aid. The hearing aid should include a telecoil, either a manual volume control or a separate program setting for the telecoil. A copy of the manufacturer’s price list using the single unit price per hearing aid should be obtained before hearing aids can be authorized. The amount the vendor bills for shipping costs may be allowed.

*00080 is the code to be used for exceptions. Send audiogram, hearing aid recommendation/justification, and communication assessment to Lori Bishop in Central Office for approval. Once approval has been obtained, then you must indicate on the description line on the pay authorization what the exception is; for example ITC, CIC, or BTE/ITE hearing aid over $750.00.

The following Expenditure Category Codes have been added under Rehabilitation Technology. Please use these codes when purchasing rehabilitation technology for deaf or hard of hearing consumers.

The fee schedule for hearing aids is being updated. Effective immediately, there will be a maximum allowable rate on fees for hearing aids. Only Behind-the-Ear (BTE) and Full Shell In-the-Ear (ITE) models will be purchased.
