Dear Colleagues:
Recently you received a letter dated May 4, 2001, from Dr. Ralph M. Crystal and myself. This letter’s content was about recruitment for a third cycle of distance education classes offered through the Graduate Program in Rehabilitation Counseling at the University of Kentucky. I have received some inquiries and would like to make a point of clarification. The above-referenced correspondence spoke of incentives for obtaining a Master’s in Rehabilitation Counseling degree including tuition reimbursement and salary advancement upon completion of the degree. Please allow me to explain that, once you complete your master’s degree, there is no automatic salary increase. Earning a master’s degree will increase your skill level and thus allow you to accept additional job duties. Meeting the necessary qualifications along with additional duties may qualify you for a reclassification. This is what was meant by salary advancement. I apologize for any confusion and for the fact that the letter did not make this point plainly. I hope this clears up any confusion. Should you still have questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you.
Sincerely,
|
