OCCUPATIONAL LICENSES

The Department may authorize the purchase of a board exam, occupational license and/or permit for an eligible consumer. Other occupational licenses may be provided including permits or other written authority required by state, city or other governmental units in order to enter an occupation, or small business, or to purchase tools, equipment, initial stocks (including livestock) and supplies. The Department may authorize the payment of initial union dues or membership fees.

Most licenses, permits and union dues must be renewed on a yearly basis. The Department should not pay beyond the first year fees or charges. Many professional qualification examinations are taken several times before a consumer passes. Payment beyond the second examination will be based upon the judgment of the counselor.
